Book Review

I wanted to read this book because of my own love for food and reading about others love of food and the wonderful tastes they have discovered. Personally, I remember events by what food I ate. I loved that the author also equated memories in the same way. If there were more talk about food I believe I would have enjoyed the book a lot more.

Reading about her birth father and him beating her mother again and again, the often loveless relationship between her mother and her stepfather, the drinking, the continual issues within her days – it quickly became tedious and sad. That made me want to move through parts of the book quickly just to get to parts about food. Unfortunately there weren’t enough food bits to suffice. There are some recipes included here and there – but being a “healthier” eater I didn’t see any that I would make or any that I even craved.
